Smarter use of nuclear waste.

چکیده
espite long-standing public concern about the safety of nuclear energy, more and more people are realizing that it may be the most environmentally friendly way to generate large amounts of electricity. Several nations, including Brazil, China, Egypt, Finland, India, Japan, Pakistan, Russia, South Korea and Vietnam, are building or planning nuclear plants. But this global trend has not as yet extended to the U.S., where work on the last such facility began some 30 years ago. If developed sensibly, nuclear power could be truly sustainable and essentially inexhaustible and could operate without contributing to climate change. In particular, a relatively new form of nuclear technology could overcome the principal drawbacks of current methods—namely, worries about reactor accidents, the potential for diversion of nuclear fuel into highly destructive weapons, the management of dangerous, long-lived radioactive waste, and the depletion of global reserves of economically available uranium. This nuclear fuel Fast-neutron reactors could extract much more energy from recycled nuclear fuel, minimize the risks of weapons proliferation and markedly reduce the time nuclear waste must be isolated

Membrane Assisted Liquid Extraction of Actinides and Remediation of Nuclear Waste: A Review
Membrane assisted liquid extraction(MALE) technologies are gaining an important role as an extraction /separation technique for actinides and are being deployed as a promising tool for remediation of nuclear waste generated in the reprocessing plant and other radioactive wastes containing a trace level of radionuclides. The present contribution outlines the classification of membrane assisted ...

The Azad pumped storage power plant including the pumping and transformer cavern and surge tanks has been located in the Sanandaj-Sirjan formation with the alternation of slate and phyllite and meta sandstone.Due to the sensitivity and special use of these spaces, stability analysis and ensuring the safety of carven is very important.Nowadays, using the surface storage tanks is very costly; The...
متن کاملEvaluation of the heat transfer rate increases in retention pools nuclear waste
In this paper, we have tried to find a solution for quick transfer of nuclear wastes from pools of cool water to dry stores to reduce the environmental concerns and financial cost of burying atomic waste. Therefore, the rate of heat transfer from atomic waste materials to the outer surface of the container should be increased. This can be achieved by covering the bottom of the pool space with c...
متن کاملNano- TiO2/Nd Deposited on -Fe2O3 as a Magnetically Separable Photocatalyst
TiO2/Magnetit and TiO2/Nd/Magnetit were prepared and used for photocatalytic decomposition of the methylorange as a pollutant. TiO2 and TiO2/Nd were prepared by sol gel method and were characterized using XRD, FT IR and TEM. The prepared catalysts were deposited on magnetite surface to have a catalyst with magnetite core. So the catalyst can be separated easily from the waste solution by a magn...
